Thorsten Brinkmann

The exhibition „Bubbleup“ presents new portraits, assemblages and sculptures by Thorsten Brinkmann (*1971 Herne). The artist transforms the gallery space into a whimsical universe in which discarded and supposedly useless or worthless things reappear and, placed in new contexts, awaken to new life. Thorsten Brinkmann collects the debris of modern culture, combines it with each other and places it in completely unexpected contexts. Provided with a good portion of humor, they develop a certain life of their own apart from their original function and question not only the relationship between body and thing, between subject and object, but also our handling of resources. In his work, Thorsten Brinkmann – former student of Bernhard Blume and Franz Erhard Walther – playfully moves between the genres of photography, sculpture, performance and installation. Full of art-historical allusions, subtle wit and a great sensitivity for material combinations, he shows us the hidden qualities of things that we have long since put to rest. His works are present in numerous museum exhibitions and are represented in public and private collections.

“Die Galerie Schierke Seinecke freut sich, neue und ältere Arbeiten aus dem umfangreichen Oeuvre des vielseitigen Künstlers Tomás Espinosa (*1985, Bogota, Kolumbien; lebt und arbeitet in Berlin) zu präsentieren. Das Œuvre des ehemaligen Schülers von Olafur Eliasson an der UdK Berlin besteht unter anderem aus Keramikskulpturen, Videoarbeiten, Fotografien und Performances im öffentlichen Raum. Espinosas Arbeiten erforschen die Spannungen zwischen Sexualität und Identität.

Ralf Brueck

Rundgænger by Schierke Seinecke is pleased to present for the first time a photographic selection of the extensive œuvre of Ralf Brueck (*1966). The Museum Ratingen recently dedicated an impressive exhibition to the Düsseldorf artist. The works shown in Frankfurt come from the series “Deconstruction” and deal with the topic of architecture. Brueck uses digital processing to transform interior and exterior views of often iconic buildings into abstract images that are sometimes painterly, sometimes graphic. Trained at the Düsseldorf Art Academy by Bernd Becher and a master student of Thomas Ruff, Brueck adds a significant artistic touch to the “Düsseldorf School” with his fine eye for detail and original pictorial ideas.
