Jacky Strenz
We are pleased to announce first solo show by Berlin based artist Alexandra Tretter with the gallery.
Alexandra Tretter (b. 1988, Germany), studied Fine Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg (2016-2020) under Jutta Koether and at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, US. She also holds a degree in architecture which received from the Technical University of Berlin (2011-2015) Columbia University, New York, USA
Alexandra Tretter's paintings are painted from the body without depicting it directly.
Rather, her compositions explore the constant changes and shifting boundaries of body and mind, like kaleidoscopes of anatomical cross-sections or psychedelic Rorschach tests.
The symmetry gives them a sense of duality and opposition: each 'module' contains a specific energy of form, color and texture.
Her central and recurring motif is the oval, a potent shape that can resemble an egg, a mouth or an eye: organs characterized by the interplay of opening and closing.
Alexandra Tretter recently showed in a solo exhibition at the Kunstverein Heppenheim.
