Discover the first solo show by Elisaveta Braslavskaja with the gallery Jacky Strenz.
Born 1997 in Marburg, Germany Elisaveta Braslavskaja studied at Städelschule, Frankfurt where she graduated in summer 2023.
The title of the exhibition "Blick in den Hof", refers to a photograph by Braslavskaja's grandmother, taken with an analog camera. Through their correspondence Braslavskaja regularly receives images of her developed films.
The artist also frequently uses the motif of the thistle-like acanthus leaf. The acanthus is a recurring form in ancient architecture on capitals or facades.
Elisaveta Braslavskaja combines pictures from her personal archive, materials and techniques from seemingly different contexts. The ornamental and floral embroideries, inspired by Persian miniature painting, weave two-dimensional layers into sculptural objects. We will feature 5 large sized black and white screen prints on handmade paper embroidered by the artist.
